My note: I personally think that it is quite important to consider things from every angle. Very often we only see one side of the story, our side. It is beneficial to try and place yourself on the other side and see how the viewpoint is from there. Everything can be interpretted differently, so try to view a situation in a different frame of mind, place yourself in the other persons shoes, assume a different role. Don’t react instantly. Take a minute before proceeding.

2011…A year for positive change

Here’s a little about myself and one of my New Years resolutions. I’m an optimist at heart, I see the good in everything. I try to find the silver lining and to make the best of things. I try to show appreciation and thanks whenever I can. I don’t have hate in my heart. If something goes wrong, I get over it quickly. I don’t yell and scream-I dislike confrontation and will avoid it if at all possible. I’m full of love and make great efforts to have everyone in my life know that they are loved. I feel there is always a brighter side. And yet I haven’t always been this way. I used to be quite opposite in fact. A bit of a pessimist, angry, upset, argumentative, skeptical, and confrontational. I’m not sure exactly the moment in my life I decided to change, but I do know that the birth of my daughter was a huge motivation for me wanting to be a better person. Its been fourteen years since she was born and I feel I’ve come a long way in my attitude. If at all I could share or help someone else live a better more positive life, it would be an amazing accomplishment. I have made a new resolution that I want to help others find a more positive optimistic outlook on life. I have decided to put a daily quote on my blog that will be motivational, inspirational, or simply something I believe in. To some, a quote may seem small and unimportant, but for those who are willing to make a change, it can be huge. Words can make a lasting impression, but ultimately its what you do with what you’ve learned that makes a difference. My mother used to tell me something almost every day and it has stuck with me throughout the years. I’m sure everyone has heard it from their parents, “If you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything at all.” Beginning with tomorrows daily quote will be a month-long series of quotes from the Dalai Lama. However todays quote will be from an extraordinary woman and poet, Maya Angelou. I wish everyone a very happy New Year filled with love, positivity, personal growth and prosperity in all aspects of your life. Happy 2011!

Last Minute Hairclips!

Tonight I made 8 last minute hairclips with a New Years theme. Actually, I wouldn’t single them out as just New Years themed, they are bit fancier and quite a bit more grown-up than my usual hairclips. You could wear them out on the town, to a dinner date, girls night out, and of course, to any New Years party. I made two styles, one all black with marabou feathers, beaded feathers, netting, and a jeweled charm. The second, just substitute the beaded feathers for a cluster of purple and green feathers. The latter would even be highly appropriate for Mardi Gras. By reading my blog, one might think that I am a horrible procrastinator, waiting for New Years Eves Eve to make hairclips for the occassion. But then if you truly did read my blog, you’d know that I’ve taken a small break from hairclip making to enjoy the holiday season with my family. So you might ask, why then the last minute hairclips??? Well, I made these hairclips at the suggestion of one of my co-workers, who really wanted to get a New Years hairclip for her daughter who is in town visiting from college.  I felt compelled to accomodate her request, and there you have it 🙂

I won! I won!

Yesterday I was on my facebook page reading a status update from a page I follow called Alwaysunderpay.com. I buy supplies from this website for my crafts. Well, the page posted they were holding a contest and to enter all you had to do was to comment to their post and a winner would be randomly selected. I’ve entered endless contests like this and have yet to win anything, until today. This morning I woke up to a message on my blackberry that I had in fact been randomly selected and was the winner of the contest. So excited!!!! It’s time to shop online for more supplies with my gift certificate, toodles!
